Liam Has Arrived!!!

With full hearts, we are so very excited to introduce...

Liam Robert Keenan
July 24th, 2012 11:17 pm
8 lb 2.6 oz 19inches

Conor & I are so in love with him, and think he is just perfect!  Being a family of three is the best thing to happen to us!  Life couldn't be better as we soak in every minute of Liam being in our lives!  The days are going by much too fast already!

Liam's birth was very long & difficult for both myself and Conor. I have looked forward to sharing my birth story all throughout my pregnancy. I think that writing about our ambitions, realities, and struggles through the birth will be good therapy for me. Although there were many times throughout the labor where we had unanticipated struggles, we are so blessed to have been given such a beautiful and healthy little man. I have a long road ahead for my recovery, but I am healing quickly and my days couldn't be filled more with love and smiles.

For now, we hope you enjoy these pictures of our new family and little Liam:

We arrived home to this sign & blue balloons from my parents!
Such a special moment!

We tried to get a picture of him in his adorable "coming home" outfit,
but he was a little sleepy and grumpy at this point!

We have been hearing some mixed thoughts as to who he most looks like, but we think he definitely has at least Conor's nose & lips!

40 Weeks

40 Weeks: Liam's Official Due Date

Total Weight Gain: 31 lbs. Eeek, another big week!  My doctor assures me it is just water weight, but it's scary seeing the numbers climb at the end here.

Wedding Rings On or Off?  On, but as stated above... I am retaining water and getting a little puffier!

Stretch Marks? No, thankfully this one hasn't changed!

Sleep?  I don't feel like I'm sleeping at all, but I'm sure I'm squeezing in a few hours of rest.  It's as if Christmas is coming, but you don't know when...  A pretty cruel joke in my opinion! :-)

Best Moment This Week:  I don't think there was one particular best moment, everyday excitingly blends together now.  I'm still waiting for my "best moment!"

Miss Anything?  No, I don't have time to think about anything other than my baby boy and when he will decide to make his arrival!

Movement?  Still wiggling around although not as much.  Sometimes I tap on his feet to get him going.  It's pretty darn cute!

Food Cravings:  Still on my sweets kick!  Made banana bread & peanut butter cookies this week.

Symptoms: Seeing a little "progress."  I'm having more & more contractions now as well.  We have our next doctor's appointment on Tuesday....expecting to be officially dilated by then!

Staying Active?  Oh yes!  Everyday this week I have swam my mile and half during the day and taken about a 3 mile walk with Conor in the evenings!  I really thought this would send me into labor... apparently not!  The good news: I'm in phenomenal shape for being 9 months pregnant!

Belly Button: Halvsies!

Happy or Moody? Happy, excited, anxious, ready...!

Nursery Progress:  Nursery is complete.  You can look back two posts in case you missed it!

Looking Forward To:  Holding my little man!  That day cannot come soon enough!  I have my fingers crossed that I will suddenly go into labor any second now...

My Favorite Things: Pregnancy

Since I am two days away from my due date, I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to share some of my favorite things that helped me along this pregnancy.  I relied on advice from "mommy" friends throughout this nine months, so hopefully this will help out some of my currently pregnant friends!

Belli Elasticity Oil:  This lavender oil smells absolutely amazing!  It worked for me because my belly is still stretch mark free.  :-)  It's also nice to have on hand when you're tempted to scratch your stomach so aggressively as the skin gets tighter and tighter over the months.

Citizens of Humanity Maternity Jeans:  This was my one big splurge on maternity clothes, and it was so worth it!  I wore them from beginning to end, and they will still be in great condition for my next pregnancy! :-)

Timex Personal Trainer Heart Rate MonitorConor bought this for me right when we found out I was pregnant.  I knew I wanted to keep exercising throughout my pregnancy, but was a little nervous at first.  Being able to accurately track my heart rate gave me piece of mind during my workouts.    Although I didn't exactly follow the old "keep it under 140 bpm" did help keep me check and let me know when I should probably slow down.  I did my research and thought this was the best (Health Magazine thinks so too)!  It's also waterproof, although I never took mine in the pool...

Assorted Berry Tums:  Once I started having bad heartburn on a daily basis, these were stashed everywhere in my house, car, & purse!  Although any flavor works, this was my favorite...taste almost like candy!  Added bonus: Costco carries this flavor in the big pack!

Lifefactory Water BottleStaying hydrated while pregnant is tough least for me!  I'm not a big water drinker, but if I have a fun water bottle, it tends to get used more often.  I love Life Factory bottles because they are glass and therefore never smell funny.  I plan on using their baby bottles as well!  When I was running, I used a Continga water bottle that had a place for my car key and credit card built in!  Gotta love the little added features!

SnoogleI cannot say enough great things about this maternity pillow!  It has been a lifesaver.  Although it's a massive pillow, I take it with me when we travel.  I cannot sleep without it, and am already getting sad about putting it away once Liam is here.  I recommend on getting it early in pregnancy because it takes a little while to "break in".  There are also lots of cute covers for it!

Dry Soda:  This was one of my go-to drinks when everyone else was drinking alcohol!  I think the best flavors are lavender (big surprise) and vanilla bean.  It is definitely not your typical soda, so don't expect anything too sweet.  Each bottle even tells you what types of foods it goes well with.  It's a Seattle company, but can be found almost anywhere now.  Some bars & restaurants are even starting to carry it!

Mama Mio Tummy Rub ButterThis is another stretch mark product I used.  This one is a lotion which I preferred over the oil at times.  This one is very light and absorbs quickly!

One thing I wished I would have purchased was maternity workout clothes.  Squeezing into my pre-pregnancy stuff got very tricky at the end, and I'm sure I've stretched out half my wardrobe!  I just recently came across these tanks & tees and thought they were adorable:

Hope this was helpful!

I am so excited to finally share photos of Liam's Nursery!  It has been a labor of love and a process I have really enjoyed.  I find myself spending lots of time in here now, just imaging what life will be like very soon!  There are still some little things I want to add here or there, but I think it is just perfect for him as is!  Come on little boy, your room is ready and so are Mom & Dad!!!

While the paint always looks blue in photos, it's actually gray.
  (Thundercloud Gray by Benjamin Moore)

I've had this Classic Pooh print since I was a child, so I was so excited to use it in Liam's nursery!

This is the "free" piece of furniture we found on the side of the road that Conor refurbished!  Paint and new hardware made it perfect for our little nursery.  This wall is where I plan on putting up some framed photos.  I'm thinking one of our gender reveal, a newborn photo of Liam, and a maternity photo.  Then, this nursery will really be complete! :-)

39 Weeks

39 Weeks

Total Weight Gain: 28 lbs. Whoa, either Liam had a growth spurt, or I'm retaining lots of water with all this heat!

Wedding Rings On or Off? The rings are on, but very fingers and toes definitely get a little chubby when I'm out in the warm weather! It's weird...I don't so much care for it.

Stretch Marks? Not a single one, but if he stays in much longer...I have a feeling some might start to appear...

Sleep? Terrible, just terrible. I can't get comfortable...not on the couch, not in bed.

Best Moment This Week: Celebrating two years of wedded bliss with Conor! We had a fun night out at the Golden Beetle in Ballard! It's a Mediterranean restaurant with amazing food by Iron Chef Maria Hines! The best part was dessert: Spiced doughnuts rolled in cardamom and cinnamon with a honey dipping sauce, mmm. I love relaxing nights like this with Conor, but absolutely cannot wait for Liam to join us!

Miss Anything? Just being comfortable in general. The only relief I've had from the back pain I have been experiencing is in the pool. But if I stayed in there all day I would get awfully wrinkly! ;-)

Movement? I can tell Liam is pretty darn cramped in there, because all he does now is wiggle and stretch out his feet (still into my right rib).

Food Cravings: I brought a bunch of fresh mint back from my parents cabin, so I've been making mint infused lemonade (still on the lemonade kick) and today I plan on making mint chocolate chip icecream (Conor's favorite). I wish I were making mojitos...!

Food Aversions: Oh no, I still have my big appetite.

Symptoms: Starting to have contractions on a daily basis! Hope this means by body is beginning the process. At my doctor's appointment on Monday I still wasn't dilated at all. Fingers crossed for this week!

Staying Active? Yes, more so than ever! I'm getting my 1.5 mile daily swim in (and my time is under an hour again), and I'm walking about 3 miles with Conor in the evenings. Hoping this will bring on the labor! (Lots of people have asked what I wear to here is a picture of me in my awesome "Grandma" swimsuit from the clearance rack at Target! It has stretched with my belly as it has grown. While I find it to be hideous, lots of the sweet older ladies at my gym are constantly complimenting it and asking where I bought it! Too funny!)

Belly Button: Top half out, bottom half in... so strange. At least from my angle...

Happy or Moody? Couldn't be happier! I am just soaking up these last few days (or weeks) of being pregnant!

Nursery Progress: Soo excited about the zinc letters from Anthropologie that we now have above Liam's crib! Everything is ready except for a few photos to hang, but I'm going to wait on those until he is born. So, I will officially be posting pics of his nursery this week!

Looking Forward To: Labor! I would really like Liam to arrive this week. Preferably Tuesday since that is when my doctor is on call! However, I am trying to stay patient since I know we could still be long way away from his birthday. I have no plans of being induced, and my doctor will probably let me go until 42 weeks... but hopefully we won't be waiting that long! :-)

38 Weeks

38 Weeks

Total Weight Gain: 25 lbs.

Wedding Rings On or Off?  With the heat we've had this week, my rings have gotten a little tight at times!  However, they are staying on.

Stretch Marks? Not at all, which makes me feel much more comfortable wearing a bikini this far into my pregnancy.

Sleep?  I'm still managing a decent amount of sleep, but I feel like I'm tossing & turning constantly.

Best Moment This Week:  This week was incredible and just what I needed before Liam arrives.  I had my maternity photos taken by my friend & talented photographer, Haley!  This was such a fun experience and her photos are something that I am sure to always treasure.  Here's the link to her blog post again, in case you missed it:

Also this week, Conor took some time off of work for a mini vacation to Spirit Lake for some 4th of July activities!  We are typically so rushed for time when we visit family, so it was nice to have 5 relaxing days at the lake!

Miss Anything?  With all the party-boating & "booze-cruises" the past few days, I've really missed the "booze" part of the cruise!

Movement?  Still moving like crazy, but less kicking and more must be getting cramped in there!

Food Cravings:  Maple bars from the grocery store in Spirit Lake...I can't get enough!  The blueberry cake doughnuts are also delectable!  I've also had a hankering for s'mores so we had a bonfire a couple nights so I could get my fix.

Food Aversions:  Not this week, I just love my mom's cooking! She asked for dinner ideas before we arrived and she made everything I suggested! She is the best!

Symptoms:  I've started to have more contractions this week!  Doctor thinks I'll start to progress here soon... We are anxious for our next appointment to see what she says.

Staying Active?  Conor was on vacation this week, and apparently I was too!  I had a pretty lazy week except for all the stairs I got in walking from my parents cabin to the dock & back! :-)  We did however get in a 4 mile walk, which I'm proud of doing this far along into my pregnancy!

Belly Button: I'm sticking with half in, half out.

Happy or Moody? I am one happy girl!  I'm a bit emotional at times, but only because I'm flooded with happy emotions as Liam's due date approaches.  I have found myself being more calm & patient as the day gets closer.

Nursery Progress:  Liam received quite a few gifts this week!  Another book, Where Will the Animals Stay?, was added to his collection.  He is also the proud owner of an American flag onesie...God bless America!  My parents also surprised us with the most adorable "coming home" outfit!  I can't wait to get it washed and in the diaper bag!  Perhaps, I will finally get around to doing a nursery post this week

Looking Forward To:  Conor & my 2nd anniversary!  I can't wait to celebrate two years with my loving husband while enjoying possibly our last date night before Liam's arrival!  Also, this coming week I plan on trying just about everything & anything to bring Liam into the world a little sooner...  Stay tuned!

4th of July Maternity Photos

As many of you know, Conor & I have a particular passion for all things American!  Our guest bedroom is adorned with a massive American Flag bought across the street from Betsy Ross' house in Philadelphia.  Since Liam is going to be a July baby (we hope), my friend and incredible photographer Haley, suggested a subtle 4th of July Maternity shoot at Discovery Park; it was the perfect setting!

Thank you, thank you, thank you Haley!
