24 Weeks

24 Weeks

Total Weight Gain:  10 lbs.

Maternity Clothes?  Finally bought a few more tank tops that are long, so I can keep wearing lots of my normal clothes.  I'm patiently waiting for some warmer weather which will allow me to bring out all those flowy sundresses that will surely accommodate my growing bump!

Wedding Rings On or Off?  On!  I'm not swelling up yet; we'll see what happens when the warmer weather comes along...

Stretch Marks?  My belly is still looking flawless! :-)

Sleep?  So-so.  Luckily I get to sleep in, because some of my best sleep comes in those morning hours!

Best Moment This Week:  Getting my appetite back!  All of sudden I am hungry constantly.  I'm even sneaking some nibbles in bed at 11pm while reading before I fall asleep.  I have finally hit the part of pregnancy where you have 2nd, 3rd, maybe even 4th dinner.

Miss Anything?  Wine, there will be never be a week I don't miss a glass of wine.

Movement?  Still moving all over the place.  I think he's working his way to my ribs now...not sure how I feel about that!

Food Cravings:  It's a long list: lemon poppy seed pancakes (yes, I made them again), oatmeal (never liked it before, love it now with raisins & brown sugar), whole wheat toast with peanut butter & agave nectar, and blueberry greek yogurt with grapenuts!  Breakfast has become my new favorite meal.

Food Aversions:  Meat has actually made its way back into my life.  I guess my increased appetite comes with a desire for meat again.  The only thing upsetting my stomach right now is smells....I DO NOT like smelling food from the last meal while doing the dishes, yuck!

Symptoms:  Some little discomforts here or there.

Staying Active?  Oh yes, I LOVE going to the gym!  I'm still able to run my 5 miles, so I'm pretty happy about that.  I keep thinking I'm going to get in the pool one of these days, but it has yet to happen.

Belly Button:  It's "in" but pretty strange looking to be honest.

Happy or Moody?  I would use the word irritable this week...happy, but irritable!  Costco is not the place for irritable people either.  That place is always full of crazy shoppers who don't know how to handle the big shopping carts!

Nursery Progress:  I'm constantly looking online at bedding, paint options, furniture....now I need to commit to some decisions!  Each week I get more & more anxious to get it ready!

Looking Forward to:  Enjoying my last 2 weeks in the 2nd trimester!  They say this is the honeymoon stage of pregnancy so I'm holding on to my last days.  I'm also excited to plan our "babymoon!"  We're thinking of taking a quick weekend via ferry somewhere in the lovely Puget Sound!

23 Weeks

23 Weeks

Total Weight Gain:  8 lbs.

Maternity Clothes?  I'm practically living in my one pair of maternity jeans and mish mash of maternity & regular tops that fit!  However, this upcoming week I'm going to make some more purchases because my belly literally sticks out the bottom of most of my wardrobe.

Wedding Rings On or Off?  Definitely on!  I hope my hands never become so swollen that I can't wear my ring!

Stretch Marks?  No stretch marks & no dark line on my belly....yet!

Sleep?  Some nights are good, others not so great!  But lately when I've woken up in the middle of the night, Liam is moving like crazy!  I can only wonder if he is the reason I'm waking up so frequently!

Best Moment This Week:  Having my best friend, Amanda, in Seattle!  She got lots of kicks from Liam during her visit!

Miss Anything?  Drinks!  The weather was so nice this weekend, a glass of wine on my deck would have been delightful!

Movement?  All day long my little boy moves!  I still love the feeling.  Every once in awhile I'll get a small pain in my ribs, so I assume he's working his way up there.

Food Cravings:  I had a crazy amount of mangos this week!  Luckily I found a big pack of the best kind, champagne mangos, at Costco.  I also thought about those lemon poppy seed pancakes all week and when Saturday rolled around I just had to make them again!

Food Aversions:  No surprises here, it's still meat.  But I happen to know some pretty amazing people, and my friend Christy read this from my blog posts and shared some of her favorite vegetarian recipes with me! I can't wait to try some of them this week.

Symptoms:  That darn hip pain was back this week!  Some days are more uncomfortable than others.  But in general, I have been so fortunate and really feel great most of the time! Conor just can't believe that I haven't thrown up once, or even felt really sick this entire time. He was gearing up for some rough days but so far we have been very lucky.

Staying Active?  Still getting my butt to gym!  It's not easy every day, but I'm still enjoying it.  I will be sad when I become so pregnant that I can't run anymore.  Hopefully that day is many weeks away!  Still getting in my 5 miles under an hour.

Belly Button:  It hasn't been changing much lately.  Still "in".

Happy or Moody?  Oh so happy!

Nursery Progress:  Amanda gave me lots of cute clothes for Liam and bought him the cutest pair of shoes!  Conor also found an adorable plaid button up for him!  Baby's first flannel; it's not Field & Stream, but it will do, hahaha!  This little man already has a pretty great wardrobe.  I think I need to start focusing more on paint colors and his bedding.

Looking Forward to:  Birth classes!  I asked my doctor who she recommended since I'm hoping for a natural birth.  She told me about Penny Simkin, who is supposedly the natural birth guru.  I also asked some fellow natural birth mommies for books that would be good for birth coaches and everyone said The Birth Partner by Penny Simkin.  How awesome that such a famous woman is in Seattle!  Well I thought I was pretty on top of things but apparently not!  All her classes before my due date are already full!  I'm scheduled for the exact same series of classes, but they are taught by one of her peers.  I was a little bummed at first, but I'm sure they will be great!  They don't start til May 8th, but I'm already excited!

22 Weeks

22 Weeks

Total Weight Gain:  7 lbs.

Maternity Clothes?  No new clothes this week.  However, I did rediscover a pair of scrubs in my closet that have been perfect for around the house!  My belly has thanked me for not wearing my sweats with tight waistbands.

Have You Started to Show?  Yes!  Even the mom helping her daughter sell girl scout cookies felt the need to comment that I'm eating for two!

Stretch Marks?  Luckily no, my belly is still looking great!

Sleep?  It was okay this week.  Not as wonderful as it has been.

Best Moment This Week:  Watching Liam's kicks from the outside.  It's so fun to lay on the couch with Conor and just watch him move!

Miss Anything?  I pretty much miss wine every week.  And lately I've been wanting to devour some of my favorite cheeses that aren't pregnancy friendly.

Movement?  Liam is a busy busy boy.  He moves throughout the day, and I love it.  Conor was using the doppler on my belly the other day, and little boy kicked right at it.  Too funny!

Food Cravings:  I'm pretty sure grape laffy taffy makes up at least one of the pounds I've gained!  I actually bought my local grocery store out of them.  Lucky for me, they just restocked!  I'm also back on a fruit & dairy kick.  Whole Foods had champagne mangos on sale this week, and they are my favorite!  Almost better than candy.  I also made some lemon poppy seed pancakes this weekend, and they were absolutely incredible!  I can't wait til next weekend to make them again.  I see myself being obsessed with these for weeks.  If only I could have a Ramos gin fizz along with them!

Food Aversions:  Meat, ugh!  This week I asked my friend, Pam, for two of her vegan recipes so I could make some good meals without meat.  Huge success!  Maybe there will be more vegan meals to come.

Symptoms:  Nope, I have felt great this week!  And as an added bonus, most of pregnancy acne has disappeared, yay!

Staying Active?  Oh yes!  I've been back in the gym this week and really enjoying it!  I'm still able to run/walk 5 miles in under an hour while heading into my six month of pregnancy!  I know all this exercise will really play off when it comes time for labor.  I am planning on having as unmedicated of a birth as possible.  Yes, that means no pain meds!  Now that this is officially written down, I can't go back!

Belly Button:  It's "in" but very wide and shallow.  I'm not convinced it's going to pop out anymore...we'll see.

Happy or Moody?  I wouldn't say moody exactly but definitely emotional.  Many tears this week over practically nothing.  One day I decided that my car is just too dirty to being putting a baby in and then burst into tears.  Silly me.

Nursery Progress:  I'm still looking for bedding but haven't decided on anything yet.  Haven't decided what we'll paint the walls either.  Getting anxious to work on it though.  Exciting find of the week: five Berenstain Bears books in one at Costco!

Looking Forward to:  Registering!  I would love any help from other moms on things they couldn't live without and things that didn't end up needing/using...

Irish Name for an Irish Boy

With it being St. Patrick's Day and all, we thought this would be a perfect time to share Baby K's name with everyone!  With a last name of Keenan and quite a bit of Irish heritage on that side of the family, we decided that we wanted an Irish name.  Conor's namesake comes from the book Trinity, which also happens to contain the name Liam.  Robert is a family name;  it is Conor's dad's name and the name of both of my Grandpa's.  Liam Robert Keenan is so perfect for us; we love it!

Here are some more pictures we took today:

Other names we considered:
Sawyer
Beckett
Porter

21 Weeks

21 Weeks

Total Weight Gain: 5 lbs.

Maternity Clothes?  I did some shopping with my mom this week and bought a few non-maternity shirts that are really long and fit my bump!  I'm excited to have a couple new things to wear!

Have You Started to Show?  Oh yes, everyone is noticing now!  Strangers always want to know when I'm due and if it's a boy or girl.  Curious people, I suppose!  I'm starting to get the "you're so big" comments, which I appreciate right now.  However, I know once I start feeling big, those comments won't seem so great.

Stretch Marks?  No, but I'm still rubbing lots of lavender oil into my belly!

Sleep?  Pretty great!  My snoogle is my favorite thing.  I was in the car a lot this week for road trips and it was great in there as well!

Best Moment This Week:  Meeting my new niece, Kanyon!  She is just the cutest little thing.  It was such a great experience being at the hospital with my family as we welcomed the new addition.  I will post a few pictures at the bottom.

Miss Anything?  I went to such a fun wedding this week, but wished I could have participated in the festivities a little more with a glass of champagne!  The wedding was in Sun River, so I also would have liked to ski but that will have to wait til next winter.

Movement?  Constantly!  He's most active when I'm laying down though.  After a busy day, he will start moving around like crazy within seconds of me finally relaxing.

Food Cravings:  All things lavender is where my cravings were this week.  This coffee shop is Sun River had lavender lattes, oh my goodness it was the best thing ever!  We also had dinner at a restaurant with a lavender lemonade on the menu, mmm!  I'm going to have to hunt down some lavender at the grocery store this week and make some of my own concoctions!

Food Aversions:  Meat is still not my thing; however, this week I did okay with red meat.  It was the chicken that made me wanna gag.  I think I've finally accepted the fact, that while pregnant my appetite is just never going to be the same.

Symptoms:  Still having ligament pain, tailbone pain, and some rib pain.  Nothing too painful though, more just an uncomfortable feeling.  However, these little woes definitely make me feel more pregnant.

Staying Active?  I was so busy this week between my trip to Spokane and then Sun River that I didn't make it to the gym once, oops!  This next week will be better.

Belly Button: Kinda "in" I suppose.  Looking different every day.

Happy or Moody?  So happy this week!  I got to spend lots of time with family, nothing is better!

Nursery Progress:  I went to the Carter's Outlet in Bend, OR and may have gone a little overboard.  But at such great prices, how could I possible resist all the cute outfits!  Baby boy has already got quite the wardrobe and I still have 4 months til he is here!  I'm starting to research chairs/gliders/recliners for the nursery, because I'm getting more and more anxious for a place to sit and wonder in there!

Looking Forward to:  Sharing the name with everyone!  Baby K officially has a name...we will announce soon!

Here are a few pictures of Kanyon's Birthday:

20 Weeks

20 Weeks
Oh, we're half way there!

Total Weight Gain:  5 lbs.

Maternity Clothes?  Warmer weather needs to start heading my way because my coats are getting hard to button or zip, and I don't want to purchase a new one!  I'm also in desperate need of some new workout gear because having my belly peek out of my tops is not cute.

Have You Started to Show?  Got asked my due date by another stranger this week!  It is definitely obvious now, yay!

Stretch Marks? No, no, no!

Sleep?  Absolutely awful this week!  I have been sick which has made sleeping quite difficult.

Best Moment This Week:  To be honest, it wasn't a great week.  Nonetheless, the best moment was feeling baby boy's "possible" hiccups!

Miss Anything?  Wine!  There were many many moments this week that I simply wanted a glass of that goodness.

Movement?  All the time, I love it!  He sure is a busy boy.

Food Cravings:  I was really excited to get a Shamrock Shake at McDonald's this week, since they are now available, but I was very disappointed!  It came with whipped cream & a cherry which almost made me cry.  Who wants whipped cream on their milkshake?! Gotta love hormones.  Needless to say, it did not hit the spot, but they were advertising sweet tea which got me super excited.  I used to drink these all the time in Delaware, but they are hard to come by on the west coast.  I have feeling it will not be my last sweet tea...

Food Aversions:  Still meat, half the time.  Conor made a delicious pasta dinner this week, but the chicken just disgusted me...yuck!  My appetite is still gone which makes deciding what to cook each night quite the challenge.

Symptoms:  I'm having some round ligament pain & tailbone pain again, but nothing too awful.  I also had some random rib pain the other day.  Not sure if my little man is already digging into my ribs or if it was just a coincidence.  We will see...

Staying Active?  I love exercising!  It has been so great for me this week, especially since I've been a little grumpy.  I met with a trainer one day and did some boxing which really got some aggression out!  I've also really enjoyed running!  I'm finally experiencing that "runners high" that some people talk about.  At 20 weeks pregnant, I've been running/walking 5 miles in an hour!  I am pretty impressed with myself.

Belly Button:  Keeping its "in" status but sure is shallow.

Happy or Moody?  I have to admit this week I was quite moody.  Being sick definitely did not help things either.  The post office lost a package of mine for a couple days, and I was furious!  Even went to two different post offices trying to render the issue.  The wrath of a pregnant woman!  Next week can only get better.

Nursery Progress:  Bought some more clothes & more diapers!  Never thought I would be so excited about diapers, but it is possible.  I've really done my research and bought every thing on sale.  I can only imagine all the money we're going to save by not using disposables.
Looking Forward to:  Meeting my new niece!  Kanyon is going to be born via c-section Monday morning!!! My other brother & his fiance are expecting another baby girl, Hadley, in May. Yes, that's right....three babies are on the way in this family!
