It's the Little Things

I'm linking up with Ashley & Jess again for the most adorable set of posts, ever!  I love reading about the sweet moments & photos that mamas are capturing.  These are the moments we want to be remembering!  Not the sleepless nights, or the tantrums for absolutely no reason.  It's the moments that make you stop in your tracks, breathe easy, and let a smile creep across your face.  Even if your face still has yesterday's makeup smeared all over it!  ;-)

Liam & I had a serious case of the Mondays this week.  To chase our grumpies (yep, I say grumpies or sometimes grumps) away, I busted out the washable paint!  I thought L could put together some masterpieces that I might be able to craft into Valentines for the grandparents!  This is only the 2nd time that I have given Liam free reign with some paints.  Which is really unfortunate because he loves, I'm talking grind-your-teeth loves, playing with paint!  It's just that it truly is a mess, which is fine while it's happening and he's giggling like crazy... But then trying to clean up a toddler, myself, & puddles of paint is quite the challenge.

But this Monday, I wasn't worried about clean-up and instead just focused on enjoying a messy, silly activity with my sweet little boy!  He loved every minute.  Every drop of paint.  Everything!  Seeing him light up was so worth it.  Just one of his wild smiles was worth it!

We both got a little crazy with the paint at the end, so I decided a mama & baby shower was in order! Just as I went to snatch him up, the little stinker ran right for the stairs...both paint covered hands all over my carpet.  And that is exactly why we stick with the washable paint; it cleaned right up!  I brought Liam in the shower with me, which was the 2nd best part of his day.  He played with the glass door squeegee while I took a long relaxing shower.  We both stayed in there 'til the hot water ran out & our fingers were all sorts of pruney.

That was our afternoon: painting & a shower.
It really is the little things that make my days as a SAHM truly the best!

  8. Love the pictures! He is so sweet and the painting turned out awesome. I try to do this with my son and all he wants to do is dip the paintbrush in the bottle over and over again. He doesn't actually want to paint!

    1. Liam keeps going back for more & more paint too, so the brush is usually dripping. I keep reminding him to put some on the paper. It's a balance of letting him do his thing and trying to contain the mess. :-)

    1. Being a mom to a toddler is tough! If he is grumpy, mama is grumpy. Luckily, our grumpy days are few & far between!
