18 Weeks (Bump #2)

Total Weight Gain: 9 lbs.  Yay for no weight gain this week, and considering we just celebrated Thanksgiving, I consider that a big success!

Symptoms: Feel pretty great this week!  I had a bit of a cold, but that wasn't pregnancy related.

Movement: Feeling the baby move every day!  Can't wait 'til I can feel those kicks from the outside!

Gender Predictions:  We're just over a week away from finding out, and I'm back to thinking boy.  I had a very vivid dream that it was a boy, so the dream total is Boy 2 vs. Girl 1.  However, I'm still buying clothes like we are having a girl, so there's that!

Purchases:  Snagged myself a Freshly Picked Carryall at their Black Tuesday sale!  It's a bit smaller than I was expecting, but I'm hoping it will work as a diaper bag!

Sleep?  A little bit of insomnia still, and sleeping on my stomach is officially uncomfortable.

Food Cravings/Aversions:  Fruit & sweets!  I have been devouring ten packs of Pez candy lately!

Staying Active?  3 workouts in this week, even with a holiday thrown in there.  Feeling pretty good about this.  Trying to find time to workout while taking care of toddler has proven to quite difficult.  Very different than being on my own schedule with my first pregnancy.

Cries: Oh yeah, a big one!  I'll elaborate more later when I share a post about finding our Christmas tree, but emotions got the best of me and tears were literally streaming down my face!

Liam's Thoughts:  Not much talk about the baby this week; we've too busy with so much holiday fun!

Looking Forward to: Santa photos with Liam!  You can see last years here.  I'm hoping to sneak my bump in there, we'll see...

Stitch Fix #3

Fashion Show!!!  Except don't get too excited because these pictures were taken in horrible lighting and after a red eye flight.  Plus, I'm just extremely awkward in solo photos.  So they are not my best to say the least.  But what is awesome is my most recent Stitch Fix!  I was really disappointed with my last fix, but this time my stylist nailed it!  If you don't know about Stitch Fix or how it works, go check out their site; I won't bore you with those details here.  So my fix...

Market & Spruce Waffle Knit Sweater - KEPT

I was pleased that this sweater was longer in the back, and therefore covers my butt in leggings.  It is definitely not a color I would normally pick out, but it was so cozy and showed off just a hint of my bump that I kept it.  I know that I will grab for this all winter long

Plaid Cardigan - sent back

I wanted to like this, I did.  But it was really big and I just don't pull off that boho look.  Plus, I like smaller plaid as opposed to this large plaid print.

Puffer Vest - sent back

I've been on the hunt for a new vest, and while this one was super cute, it was also very thin.  That's just not going to work for our cold Utah winters!

Look Knit Infinity Scarf - KEPT
I own far too many scarves, but this is my first affinity one, so I justified keeping it.  So cozy, and such a perfect color!  I also received a set of three maternity tanks which were awesome, but since I just purchased a bunch from GAP I passed on those.
Overall, I loved this fix!  And I love getting fun clothes in the mail each month!  So if you haven't tried Stitch Fix yet, do it!  At least once!  And if you do, follow this link & I will love you forever!

I Love...

I haven't done an update on Liam since he turned two, so I wanted to take some time to write down a few little things about him that I am just loving right now!  This week is the perfect time to reflect on my sweet boy that I am oh so thankful for!

I love...
... how he always scoots closer to me, regardless of how close we are already sitting.

... his cool breath on my face when we sleep tummy to tummy at night.

... how "one more kiss" is his favorite bedtime stalling technique.

... that he calls tomato soup "ketchup soup".

... how everything in the past was "last night" and everything in the future is "tomorrow".

... that he loves chocolate & icecream, but how he does not like chocolate icecream.

Happy Early Thanksgiving All!

First Snow

Sunday morning we woke up to the first snow of the winter season!  I had been anxiously waiting for this, as I have been every year since I was a little girl!  Liam was such a fan of the fluffy white stuff last year, that I knew it would be at whole new level now that he's two.  And I was so right!

Conor got up early with Liam and took him right to the back door to see it falling down & blanketing everything in sight.  Little L didn't stop talking about it once those initial moments of awe had passed.  He thought every tree covered in snow was just the perfect Christmas tree & insisted upon heading outside to play in it immediately!  He remembered he needed his snow pants, boots, etc. and was more than willing to help get everything to be ready.  He talked to Conor the entire time they got dressed... and that's a long time!  It is just incredible how long it actually takes to dress a squirmy, anxious toddler and yourself just to go outside!

But the smiles, joy, & glee were well worth all the efforts!  Snowballs were rolled, snow angles were attempted, & nice racetrack for his cars graced the back deck.  I know we will spend much of our snowy winter outside!  And this year, I may even let us warm up afterwards with a wee bit of hot cocoa.  There is so much fun to be had this winter...this is only the beginning!

17 Weeks (Bump #2)

Blanket Scarf (only $11!)

Total Weight Gain: 9 lbs.

Symptoms: Most of the nausea is gone, so whoo hoo for that!  I'm still suffering from some frequent headaches, but otherwise no complaints!

Showing Yet?  I sure think so, especially after this week where my bump seems to have really popped out!  My 3 year old neighbor told me I had a big tummy!  I said there was a baby in there, so she proceeded to peak under my dress at the baby!  Priceless.

Stretch Marks?  No.  And I never had any with my first pregnancy, so I'm not expecting this time around.  Regardless, I am using & loving my Belli Elasticity Oil again.  The lavender smell is so calming.

Movement:  I can say with confidence that I have felt the baby move now!  And I'm fairly certain all those questionable flutters over the last 2 weeks were the baby as well.  Exciting stuff!  Now I want to feel those movements all the time, but they are still rare & sporadic!

Gender Predictions:  I'm really believing it's a girl.  Not sure if that is mother's intuition or just me trying to convince myself of it.  Either way, we will know on December 8th!!!

Sleep?  Lots of insomnia!  I have no problem conking out the second Liam & I lay down for nap time, but bedtime is a different story.  I don't remember it being this bad with Liam, but I'm adjusting.  It's not like I've slept much in the past 2 years.

Maternity Clothes:  I have busted out my old maternity clothes from my first pregnancy and I ordered some jeans this week.  I'm having a rather difficult time find a skinny pair that I like, since I prefer a full panel and apparently that is hard to come by.  I'm waiting for these Paige skinnies to be delivered and am hoping I will love them!

Food Cravings/Aversions:  My Hawaii cravings are 'n chips & cinnamon rolls!  Plus fresh fruit still.  I'm buying fruit in Costco proportions and finishing them off in only a few days.  Still a meat aversion.

Staying Active?  Getting there.  Two workouts this week, which is actually decent considering I was still on vacation for half of the week.

Cries: Two near cries.  Very near.  Tears welled up but were not released.  Once due to being stuck in traffic for 1 hour with an upset toddler.  The other time over a call from our pediatrician about Liam being anemic.  It's not a huge concern, and we've been dealing with it for awhile, but it triggered something in me that particular day.

Liam's Thoughts:  He loves to spontaneously kiss my belly which makes me smile so big!

Looking Forward to: Thanksgiving!  And then kicking off the Christmas Season!

Five on Friday

It's Friday and only a short work week is ahead of us before Thanksgiving.  I am in full holiday mode now and am so excited for all the fun that is to come!  It's even supposed to snow here this weekend, so perhaps we'll get our Christmas Card pic taken!  Here's my (sometimes) weekly five...  As always, thanks to all the lovely hosts: Christina, Darci, April, & Natasha!

I made a quick GAP purchase last week to snag a few things during one of their sales and quickly tossed these jammies in my cart for Liam!  I loved the snowflakes and navy blue & white color scheme; they were going to be perfect for the winter season...  And then they arrived and they are girl jammies!  Somehow I missed that memo!  The collar is scalloped and the snowflakes glittery.  Womp womp!  So disappointing!  Why couldn't they make a boy version of these too?!

I thought I would never cheat on my beloved Noosa yogurt, that is until I spotted some Dreaming Cow...  With flavors like blueberry cardamom & dark cherry chai I simply couldn't resist!  Try them now, they are everything you will hope them to be!

Conor & I will be cooking our own Thanksgiving feast, but if we weren't, I would be on the hunt for the perfect hostess gift!  I love the idea of bringing something festive for the host that they will be able to use for future Thanksgiving dinners.  If anyone of you are in charge of the pie, this dish would be such a fun gift!  And if any of you need a top-knotch pie recipe, check out my pumpkin chiffon pie!

Anyone have an amazing cinnamon roll recipe that they just love?  I really want to make a batch from scratch this year, to have on Thanksgiving morning...  The Pioneer Woman usually doesn't disappoint, so this recipe is my back up plan, but I'd love to hear from all of you!

I need to hurry up and get my Christmas lists together, because Black Friday will be here soon and some of my favorite shops are having sales early this year!  Alpine Baby Co.  had a flash sale earlier this week (where I snagged some awesome goodies like these huckleberry leggings...really hoping I'm having a girl), but they will also have 25% off on Black Friday!  Freshly Picked is doing their sale on Tuesday, but I am disappointed that the carryalls won't be on sale!  Now to start scoping out other shops...

TGIF friends!

Thanksgiving Style

With Thanksgiving just a week away, I wanted to share a little attire inspiration.  My family has always dressed up for the occasion, so even though it has just been Conor & I for the past few years, we still like to get a little fancy!  I love any excuse to throw on a dress, so I always do for holidays.  It just makes the whole evening feel a bit more special!  Full disclosure though... I will not be purchasing  new outfit simply for Thanksgiving.  I'll find something cute already in my closet and call it good.  It's fun to still do a bit of browsing though!

Dress / Pearl Earrings / Ring / Bracelet
Snow Boots / Flats / Rain Boots

I love how this sweater dress is cozy yet dressy.  Plus there is plenty of room for a full belly!  Pearl earrings are always my go-to, and I though I cocktail style ring would be a fun addition.  My AGL ballet flats are one of my favorite pairs of shoes and are always classy.  However, if your Thanksgiving is going to be a snowy one, you could easily pair this dress with some boots!

Anyone else planning out their Thanksgiving dinner attire?!

Our Hawaiin Getaway

We are back from Hawaii, and I am already having withdrawals...  Both from having Nana & Pops on hand at all times and from the beautiful island of Maui itself.  I'm excited to write a recap of our trip so that I can look back at all the fun we had and memories we made.  I know that vacation posts can be quite boring for the every day reader, but this blog still serves in part as a journal for me and my family and this was a trip I definitely want to log into the archives.  So if you don't care for all the details and an overload of photos then move along my friends!

The Digs: Honua Kai Resort
This is the newest resort on the island and is located on Ka'anapali Beach.  We rented a two bed/two bath condo which was perfect for the five of us.  We had an incredible view of the ocean and were only steps away from the great pools & beach!  I cannot recommend this place enough!  It was so amazing we barely needed to leave the resort, but of course we still did!

The Eats:
Since we had a full kitchen in our condo and access to great barbecue areas, we made most of our meals!  It was so nice to still have home cooked meals (especially from my mom and Conor) while on vacation.  Since we cooked a lot of meals ourselves throughout the trip, when we did dine out we felt we could really splurge a bit. We therefore treated ourselves to some of the finer restaurants in the area.

Duke's Beach House:
This restaurant was literally at the resort, only steps from our condo, so we ate there the most!  I loved the atmosphere and live music, but most importantly the menu!  My favorites were the fish 'n chips (and brand new pregnancy craving that is most definitely here to stay) and banana macadamia nut pancakes with coconut syrup.  I'm fairly certain that all my pancakes need to be covered in coconut syrup from this point forward! Conor also loved the peppered Ahi dish that he had on our first big night out to celebrate my birthday.

Ululani's Shave Ice:
Katie recommended this to me, and I could not stop thinking about it for weeks leading up to our trip!  This shaved ice was the best I've ever had and certainly did not fall short of my expectations.  The first time I went, I got in line only 10 minutes after they had opened for business and there was already a huge wait!  It was sooo worth it though...  This cute little walk-up counter is right in the heart of Lahaina and the perfect place to stop for a treat while doing a little window shopping.

This restaurant is in the Kapalua area North of Lahaina and is located right on the point of an incredibly beautiful bay!  Some of the most spectacular views we had on our trip by far were right from our dinner table!  Just Conor & I came here for a little date night alone while Nana and Pops watched Liam and it was such a romantic spot!  I, of course, snagged some mahi mahi fish 'n chips for an appetizer to feed that freshly developed pregnancy craving... and then enjoyed the melt-in-your-mouth-fresh Ahi.  I was all about the local fish, which somewhat surprised me since I had been so nauseous up until this trip.  Everything here was absolutely delicious! Even the cocktails, which Conor so graciously enjoyed on my behalf.

Fleetwood's On Front St:
We had dinner on the rooftop of this fun restaurant right in downtown Lahaina.  We watched the sunset light up the sky and then listen to bagpipes and native Hawaiian music before a delicious dinner. After dinner, a great blues band took the stage right in front of our table.  Liam loved the music and I loved his subtle dance moves on my lap! This is Mick Fleetwood's Restaurant (the drummer from the famed "Fleetwood Mac") and Conor claims that he recognized him a few times as the long-haired and bearded guy popping up here and there around the restaurant while we dined...

This was one of the most relaxing vacations I have ever had!  Even though Liam keeps us busy, he also helps us to just enjoy the simple things.  He was a bit hesitant about the ocean at first, but he quickly warmed up to it!  He would run around like crazy making footprints in the sand and laughing hysterically at all the little "feets"!  He spent hours making sandcastles and race tracks and digging holes for the waves to come splash in.  We watched sea turtles and boats and ran from the waves just as they were about to crash at our feet.  So many special moments each day!

As much as he loved the ocean, I think he most favorite thing was the "hot pool" or the hot tub for the rest of us.  He would sit on the steps and just people watch; he could not get enough of that warm water.  Every once in awhile he would venture out to the big pools or the lazy river and do some jumping off all the big rocks lining the pools (no fear in this boy), but he always made his way back to the hot pool!  I can't blame him!

And Liam's other highlight was riding the Ka'anapali trolley.  We spotted a complimentary trolley that took passengers from Whaler's Village to a few different resorts, so even though we weren't staying at any of those resorts we still jumped on because my little boy loves all modes of transportation!  Again, it was the simplest things that made our trip so special.  So the five of us took about an hour trolley ride and enjoyed a brief tour of that part of the island.  So spontaneous, so fun!  Obviously, we are really living on the edge here as parents, ha!

And amongst all this playing, Nana & Pops took many turns with the little boy while I was left to relax on a lounge chair.  Sun bathing, reading, & sipping virgin bloody marys; it was a dream!  I actually finished an entire book in just one week.  Relaxing isn't a big enough word to describe it!  Liam has such a deep attachment to my parents, that I always knew he was in good hands and having a blast.

At first I was a bit nervous to rock a bikini since my bump is still quite small (relatively) and could easily be mistaken for a beer belly!  But there were plenty of other pregnant mamas at our resort and I quickly felt comfortable!  I mean I do love any occasion to show off the bump, so show it off I did!

While part of me wanted a bit more adventure, the slow pace of our trip was perfect for this mama.  I needed to relax, I needed to spend some time just soaking up this pregnancy and focusing on this new little baby that will be joining our family next year.  Being pregnant I was a bit hesitant in the ocean, so I passed on things like boogie boarding (obviously) and snorkeling.  I also really wanted to do the road to Hana, but that is no adventure to bring a 2 year old on.  So instead, I enjoyed the time with my family and we kept our exploration a bit more local to the condo.  He will only be this little for so long.  His eyes will only open this wide at the first sight of the ocean for a few more years.  This world may not always be so new and magical to him, but we hope his adventures never grow dull.  There will be plenty of time for crazy adventures with just Conor & I when the kids have grown.  For now, I love this season of life!

Mahalo Hawaii, it was one amazing & unforgettable trip!
Liam's expression upon seeing the ocean at Maui on our very first morning was priceless!

16 Weeks (Bump #2)

Total Weight Gain: No idea; I haven't stepped on a scale once while on vacation!  But since I have definitely been over-indulging here in Hawaii, I'm guessing I am going to be back to my pre-pregnancy weight with Liam (my healthy weight) real soon!

Symptoms: I've barely had any nausea while on vacation, so happy about that!  I'm slowly starting to feel this pregnancy in my back and my hips, but I've also been away from my pregnancy pillow for a week!

Movement:  I felt Liam move just after I hit 17 weeks, and there was no doubt in my mind that it was him.  I expected to feel this baby much sooner, but I still haven't yet...  Although there have been a few questionable flutters, so maybe, but I'm not convinced.

Gender Predictions:  Still thinking girl.  And we are almost completely decided on a girl name, and I have lots of girl nursery if this baby is a boy, it will throw me off!

Sleep?  Slightly better while on vacation (for Liam too)!  I guess we are playing so hard that we hit the sheets and are out!

Maternity Clothes:  I'm starting to belt a lot of my shirts & dresses to make them a bit more maternity friendly.  And I will definitely be purchasing some maternity jeans this week, since my pair from Liam's pregnancy are too big.

Food Cravings/Aversions:  A big meat aversion, except for at breakfast time...bring on all the bacon!!!  Lots of cravings while in Hawaii: fish 'n chips, shaved ice, & cinnamon rolls!  And I have succumbed to each of them more than once!

Staying Active?  Barely, again!  I went for one run on the boardwalk this week, but then I realized I'd rather sip on coffee reading a book on our lanai in the mornings instead of sweating like crazy first thing when I wake up.  But next week I should be back in the gym and hopefully finally getting in 4-5 workouts a week!

Cries: None.  Vacation makes for a happy girl!

Liam's Thoughts:  We actually haven't talked about the baby much this week, since we've been so busy.  But we have told Liam the girl name we are considering and it is too adorable to hear it out of his mouth!

Looking Forward to: Midwife appointment and scheduling our gender scan!

15 Weeks (Bump #2)

Total Weight Gain: 7 lbs.  Whoa, whoa, whoa.  Seems big, but I keep reminding myself that I'm still working towards a healthy weight and haven't even hit my pre-pregnancy weight with Liam!

Symptoms: This was by far my toughest week with nausea.  I thought I was over this hump a couple weeks back, but apparently not...

Gender Predictions:  Still thinking girl.

Sleep?  It's really not great.  Even when Liam is in his own bed, I find myself having a very difficult time falling asleep and then am constantly tossing, turning, & waking up.

Maternity Clothes:  Slowly starting to wear more maternity stuff, but I'm in the awkward phase still where most things are too big.  I did find a super cute top and black lace dress at H&M that I'm excited about (can't find them online, or I would link to them).  I am loving H&M's maternity line and will probably be making many more purchases.

Food Cravings/Aversions:  Still not much of an appetite.  Fruit is always good though...can't wait for all the fresh stuff in Hawaii.  And meat is still pretty meh!

Staying Active?  Barely.  1 workout this week.  One.  One measly 3 mile run.  But considering how awful I felt, I don't feel bad about it one bit!

Cries: Lots.  I found out Conor has to be in Europe for a week in December, which just crushed my little holiday loving soul.  I'll be spending that time with parents back home though, so it can't be all too terrible.  I also bawled my eyes out writing Liam's weaning story post.

Liam's Thoughts:  Oh he just loves talking about the baby.  His new thing this week is that he insists that I take a picture of him & the baby once it is born!  He is very adamant about this point.  I just love his excitement!

Looking Forward to: Hawaii!!  And probably feeling some movement from the baby any day now..!

Five on Friday

Not only is it Friday, but today is my 29th birthday!  However, when you are a mom and your birthday falls on a weekday, it really just feels like any other day.  We leave for Hawaii tomorrow and will be celebrating once we get there!  Here's my (sometimes) weekly five...  As always, thanks to all the lovely hosts: Christina, Darci, April, & Natasha!

On November first I drove right to Starbucks to get my 1st red cup and eggnog latte of the season, only to be devastated to learn that they were not bringing back the eggnog latte this year!  Only in the Pacific Northwest, ridiculous!  So I went online and signed a petition (I was really upset) and was going to urge you all to do the same...  But just yesterday Starbucks released a statement that they decided to bring it back after all the flack they received (obviously not their words)!  Boom!  Petition signing works! :-)  It was almost a bigger deal then election day.  Almost.

This is my absolute favorite fall quote, so I was pumped to find a little desktop wallpaper of it.  You know I can't keep myself from some festive wallpaper!

How adorable are these DIY Christmas ornaments?!  I see a little craft project for Liam & I in our future...or maybe just me.  They would be such a fun little gift for all Liam's friends!

I am loving this decal for our front door!  We have a very dark wood door, so the white writing would really pop!  We will see if Conor approves...

Have any of you heard about Serial Podcasts?  It's a series that is going on right now about an actual murder mystery.  I heard it's the best thing in entertainment right now.  Supposedly you will be hooked after the first episode (they release one a week and there are 7 so far).  This will be my gateway into podcasts, but I have them downloaded and ready to listen to on my flights to & from Hawaii!

On that somewhat dark note, TGIF friends!
