24 Weeks (Bump #2)

Dress: Stitch Fix

Total Weight Gain: 18 lbs.  Yay for a no gain week!

Symptoms: That hip & back pain is still lingering.  Swimming laps in the pool has definitely helped ease some of it though.  I'm carrying this baby ridiculously low which I'm sure is making me "feel" more & more pregnant.  The heartburn is starting to show up which is a bit earlier than my last pregnancy, but I already have my Costco sized container of Tums and am ready for it!

Nesting?  I'm creating all sorts of lists of things I want to accomplish, but I haven't actually done anything yet.  Cleaning/organizing seems to be at the top of my list!

Nursery Progress:  Now that we are into the new year, I thought I would have jumped right into this project...  But since the room is currently Liam's playroom, I don't want to change things up yet.  I'm dreading moving his room to our finished basement because it doesn't have much natural light.  So I fear this may get put off for some time.  However, I love adding things to my inspiration board and trying to nail down exactly what we'll do!

Food Cravings/Aversions:  Sweets, sweets, sweets!  Also fruit, yogurt, & granola (separately or together)!  No real aversions which is awesome!

Staying Active?  Yeah!  I really got back into it this week!  I managed to fit in 2 runs (3 10 minute miles) and a swim.  Carrying so low is really starting to affect my running.  I'm hoping not to have to slow down,  so I may purchase the Gabrialla Maternity Support Belt; I've heard good things.  I'm also in desperate need of some maternity workout clothes, but I'm slightly hesitant to make any purchases since I had to stop running with Liam at 25 weeks...

Cries: It was an emotional week.  Partly due to being away from family after so much great time together; partly because Conor was away for work for 3 days.  Those trips always take a toll on me!

Liam's Thoughts:  He is very into painting the baby's nursery.  He read about it in a book and now wants to pick a color and help with the project.  Not sure how that is going to pan out exactly.

Birth Plan:  I thought I would throw this in because labor & the birth are really on my mind these days.  I had a very long & difficult birth with Liam (story here), so my confidence is not the same going into this pregnancy.  This time we are seeing a midwife and are planning a water birth at the hospital.  We also plan on having a doula, which I need to choose soon!  I'm also reading & listening to Hypnobabies, so hopefully that calms some of my fears.  I really want a natural birth experience!!!

  1. Hi Laura, I haven't typed my second son's birth story yet...its been 7 weeks, but blogging with 2 is much more difficult! But my second birth was soooooooo drastically different than my first long and difficult delivery. The second one was so quick that there was no time for an epidural- so I had a natural birth. I was worried about a similar birth experience but it couldn't have been any more different. So there's hope that it won't be as long and difficult!

  2. You beautiful birth experience this time. Another natural birth method is The Bradley Method. Their book is The Husband Coached Childbirth. Definitely recommend. I definitely think reading other birth stories is a great way to prepare mentally too. I'm really rooting for you and so believe you'll have the birth experience you yearn for this time around. P.S. You look super fabulous in that dress!!!

  6. I am with you on the labor/delivery...my first was NOTHING like I planned, so I am trying to get into the mindset of what to expect. I've heard amazing things about water births - I was in the tub until I got my epidural with Cam...it was amazing. PS YOU look amazing - I LOVE that dress on you!!

  8. Love your inspiration board! That changing pad is adorable. Remind yourself NOT to compare births. This is a different one, and you will do great!

  11. Hot momma!! Good for you with your birth plans - remember you were MADE FOR THIS!! You absolutely can do it, but I understand how previous experiences affect your feelings. Sometimes knowing is 'worse' than the unknown. I struggled with that the second time, for sure. Good for you for being so active!! :)
