The Struggle is Real

I have quite the sweet tooth.  Candy hidden in my bedside table kind of sweet tooth.  And this pregnancy has somehow managed to take my craving for sweets to a ridiculous level!  The problem is, as a mom of a toddler, I am never alone.  Never.  And since I don't want Liam to be eating all the treats that I am, I have to be sneaky...

Conor snagged these lovely pictures of me devouring this maple bar on the way to Montana!  While he filled up the car with gas, I ran into the local grocery store which just happens to make the 2nd best maple bars in all the land!  The car is one of the few places that I am sometimes out of Liam's view!  Sometimes.  It was much easier when he was rear facing; I could practically have a sugary picnic in the front seat!  But since we switched him to forward facing last month, I now have to be ever so careful as to not draw attention to myself, and to not crinkle any paper that may sound like a treat is near!

The struggle is real.

My other favorite secret spot...the gym locker room!  That's right friends, my gym bag usually has a few sweets in it!  That may sound counter productive, but you have to do what you have to do.  There is currently a bag of conversation hearts in there, and I smile each time I peak in and snag a few.

It's never easy to find a few moments to indulge.
The struggle is real.

  1. I am dying. this is me exactly!! Rae is still rear faced and my husband and I talk about how we won't be able to snack when she's turned around. I'll grab donuts or cookies after I drop her off at "school".. so bad!! haha

  8. OH my goodness, this is so stinking cute. I remember a comic strip where a dad opened a bag of chips and a toddler came running because they thought it was candy. The quote was "The cruel world of a toddler, all plastic sounds the same" :)!

  13. Bahaha, I am dying over this! I've become real sneaky at eating treats without Mia noticing... the car is the worst though! Any sound of crinkling and Mia INSTANTLY starts yelling "I 'ant! I 'ant!" Eric and I love to get shakes and share them on a drive but now that Mia is forward facing? It's almost not worth it to get one. She says" ah!" with her mouth wide open and I have to reach back and give her a spoonful (thank heavens for long shake spoons, but it's still a workout to make it to her mouth without the car bouncing my arm around and shoving it in her nose instead, HA!) every two seconds. Greedy little mini me :)
Also, now I'm TOTALLY craving a donut!

  15. oh man that is too funny. I think my husband is right there with you. I'm like...can't you just wait until nap time to have a treat?? He goes and hides somewhere ha. The crinkle though!! McDonald's fries are more of my weakness, and Aria already sticks her little hand out toward the front when we get in the drive through. I knew I should have stuck with my no food in the car seat rule, but alas.
