Finn: 1 Month Old

Finn is such a sweet & mellow baby, just like Liam was.  He really only cries if he's hungry or full of air.  He looks a lot like his big brother, but is slowly starting to have some of his own features develop.  They have the exact same nose, which is something that I noticed simply from both of their ultrasound photos.  Finn has fit right into our family perfectly.  I practically wear him everywhere, so we have quickly gotten back into our normal routine.  Finn has already been on numerous adventures, since we are always keeping up with big brother!  We all love him like crazy and are so happy he's here!  Life is already better now that he's a part of it with us!

Eating: You can tell by his cheeks that this boy loves milk!  Finn is a big boy; not so much chubby, just overall big!  He's currently in 0-3 month clothes but will probably be moving up by next week!  He's an extremely efficient eater, especially for a newborn.  This has been such a blessing, especially since big brother is always keeping us busy.  I have a bit of an oversupply again, so unfortunately Finn experiences plenty of choking, spitting up, & gas.  However, I'm managing it pretty well with block feeding & laid back breastfeeding.

Sleeping: Once again we have one of those amazing newborn sleepers, but I know that this is probably temporary, just as it was with Liam.  At Finn's 2 week checkup he was already back to his birth weight plus 1.5 lbs, so our pediatrician gave me his approval to stop waking Finn for feedings.  He can take a 3+ hour nap at anytime during the day, and then usually sleeps a good 5-7 hour stretch the first part of the night.  After that he is up about every 2 hours.  Right now, Liam wakes more than Finn at night; it's ridiculous!

Health: Finn is a happy & healthy baby!  He suffered a cracked collar bone at birth (apparently this somewhat common with big babies), but it has healed perfectly!

Likes: His most favorite thing is to lay in the shade below some trees and stare at the leaves.  I love watching his eyes widen with excitement!  He also loves to follow big brother with his eyes, always curious about what Liam is up to!

While I love to watch Finn grow on what really seems like a daily basis,
I'm in no rush for him to start hitting those milestones.
I am just loving this newborn stage!

  5. Sweet babe!! This gives me hope that it won't be TOO difficult of a transition when we have baby boy! I'm so hoping he's easy going and happy like Mia was!
What is block feeding? I'm not sure I've heard of that, but I need to know because I totally had an over supply with Mia. Of course it could always be different, but I'm expecting the same thing this time around.
How is he already a month old? It's not fair how quickly the time flies with kids!

    1. Block feeding is nursing on the same side for a couple feedings in a row. Essentially you are making sure to completely drain one breast before moving to the other. It also slows down production!

  6. Oh my gosh, what a sweet, BIG boy!! :) It's nice to have such a go-with-the-flow baby, especially when there's already a 'flow' to keep up with.

  12. A month already? I literally said that out loud when I saw your title in my BL feed. Wow. An efficient nurser is so awesome. I recall just hours nursing Aria off and on for the first few months. Not ideal with a busy busy toddler!
