Halloween 2015

This was my most favorite Halloween to date!  My holiday loving heart is growing even fonder of all the festivities & traditions as I get to experience it all as a parent.  This was the first holiday that Liam was in preschool to celebrate, so of course I volunteered to help at his class party.  They did a little parade and sang some songs before we played games & crafted back in the classroom.  All of the kids were supposed to say their names and what costume they had on...  When Liam's turned arrived, he ran up to the microphone as quickly as possible and gave a fast "I'm dressed as a frog!"  Then right back to his spot in line.  No name, he was just all about the frog.  It was such a mixture of shyness & excitement!

The school events kicked off our celebrations and put Liam in full Halloween mode.  He was particularly into carving pumpkins this year, and very very proud of his own.  One of my favorite sights this Fall has been seeing his tiny (yet somehow huge) hands wrapped around his pumpkin.  For him, it was incredibly heavy but he handled it with relative care (only dropped it once...no damage).  It still blows my mind that he is now old enough for all of this fun!  I want him to stay little, yet I love watching him being able to experience everything with such a greater sense of understanding and ability!

Halloween night was just as special & magical for Liam as I had hoped!  Conor & Finn stayed back at the house to hand out candy from our porch; apparently Finn was mesmerized by everyone in costume.  And I was the lucky one to take Liam trick-or-treating with all our neighbor friends.  This year he was actually able to keep up with most of the older kids.  He had a good sprint going and never wanted to stop.  I could hear his sweet voice shouting out "trick or treat!" & "thank you" (most of the time).  His little legs had to have been exhausted by the end of it all.

So the costumes....  Finn wore Liam's old owl costume that I made two years ago.  Liam wore it when he was 15 months old, but Finn is huge so he fit it perfectly at 6 months!  I love being able to hand down Liam's first homemade costume.  It is one of my favorites!  Hopefully there will be another little Keenan baby wearing it in years to come!   And Liam was a frog this year.  It's what he really wanted to be, and I couldn't sway him another way.  I showed Conor a couple pictures of what I had in mind & then we picked out the materials together.  That is where my involvement ended.  Yes, Conor made Liam's entire costume!  He's actually pretty amazing with a sewing machine.  It turned out perfectly, greatly surpassing any of my expectations!  Lots of love went into it, so expect Finn to be making a frog appearance in 2 years!

Now for the picture overload, because I could not resist...

It was a beautiful night in Utah as the sun was setting.
Here's a peak at our view while just around the corner from our house trick or treating!

And now that Halloween has passed...
I say bring on the snow!!!

  24. Seriously adorable!!! I'm loving the homemade costumes!!!! Filled with such great memories! Seeing the boys sitting next to each other in their costumes, it doesn't look as if they really favor each other. Does that seem to be the case or just that particular picture? Lily and Ben, in my opinion, look nothing alike.
