We had our annual Santa photos last week, and I was a little bummed with how they turned out. Alright, I was actually quite upset; I like to get upset over absolutely ridiculous things. Emotions were running high for me. Finn's 1st tooth popped up, and let's just say that Finn is no fan of teething. Typically he has the sweetest demeanor and is a rather pleasant baby, minimal crying or fussing. But last week was filled with lots of screaming & practically no sleep. So this mama also shed some tears and didn't know what to do with all the sleep deprivation...hence, emotional me. So back to Santa photos...
If you've been reading here for long, you know that we have a pretty awesome Santa set up here in Utah. Instead of scaring your kids with some stranger, you yourself dress up as Santa. These photos are always a bit untraditional, but I love that aspect. Conor always dresses as Santa, and I help the photographer to get smiles out of the boys. Liam was into it as always, but Finn was having a tough time with life. He had some red, watery eyes (of course he has a cold too) and has been extra sensitive since his new tooth arrived Regardless, my boys are adorable, and so they did not disappoint. I love how their sweet little faces were captured. So I what was I possibly upset about?... The set (sloppy presents & odd colors) as well as how the photos were edited (overexposed). However, now that a few days have passed (and I have realized how silly I was being), I have come to love them!
These photos are always so special. Seeing the boys in their matching PJs with the twinkle of Santa in their eyes! Nothing better! And then of course, they do have an "actual" Santa on hand, so the kids can still tell them what they want for Christmas. Liam was slightly weary but into it. He told me that he very quietly told Santa his Christmas list, but really I think he was just in it for the candy cane. Finn held it together briefly and then was all tears. Really this snap says it all!
Santa told Liam to check on his reindeer just as he was walking away, and the look on Liam's face was priceless. So much wonder, excitement, & magic. There were two reindeer outside for us to watch, which had Liam in awe. His desire to believe in it all is incredible. I am loving this season and experiencing it all right along with him!
