Another busy weekend is behind us. I was seriously exhausted Sunday night and felt like I needed a weekend to recover from the weekend. But instead, Monday came and we all survived. So the weekend... Conor turns 30 this week, so his best friend (and Liam's godfather) flew in for the weekend to help celebrate! They had planned to ski all day Saturday, but a big blizzard foiled those plans. The canyons were closed for some avalanche control, and by the time they opened traffic was so backed up. At best, they would have had a half day of skiing. Not to mention, I'm fairly certain they were nursing some slight hangovers, so the motivation was lacking. Instead, the boys hit up Saturday's Waffles (thanks to a helluva lot of butter, I could not partake) and then we hit our sledding hill. Apparently, on the weekends, we sled. Liam isn't tired of it yet, nor am Finn or I.
Sunday was by far the craziest. Poor Liam & Finn got passed back and forth between Conor & I as we tried to fit way too many activities in. I had a blessingway to attend early in the morning. These are such special events and are quite the honor to be invited to, so it was something I simply couldn't miss. I love wearing a bracelet again in anticipation of the arrival of my friend's sweet baby girl, Violet. Unfortunately, I had to sneak out of a bit early to swap cars & kids with Conor. He & Paul (the best friend) had a reservation to bobsled for Conor's 30th! The old Olympic facilities in Salt Lake City are pretty incredible. Part of me really wanted to join them, but the other part of me wanted to make sure that both Conor & I not die tragically. I seriously think about this stuff, even when we're just alone in the car without the boys. I digress... Conor & Paul had 47 exhilarating seconds that was apparently so worth it. So when in SLC, bobsled! Sidenote: we may have watched Cool Runnings in anticipation of this event!
As soon as they were done, we made another swap of the cars & kids, so that I could join Sara for some afternoon drinks! I love any opportunity to meet up with another blogger (this was my second)! Sara is one of my favorites. Her blog voice is hilarious yet genuine, and her photography is stunning. She's one of the women that I've always just "clicked with" even though, prior to this day we had never met. This is a completely foreign concept to those who don't blog, but trust me, it is a very real community with beautiful friendships! It was like sitting down with an old friend that you don't skip a beat with. Sara & I drank and chatted for two hours straight before I reluctantly took her to the airport. In fact, I got her there just a tad late and probably gave her a good amount of stress about missing her flight! I'm so hoping to join in on a little blogger vacation this fall...we'll see if I can pull it off!
Cheers to a wonderful weekend with some pretty special people! I cannot wait to continue to birthday festivities for Conor this week. He's finally my age!
