Spring Things

As I am getting more & more experienced with my camera, I find that I am using photography in a big way to capture my boys' childhoods.  It is such a perfect & artistic way to storytell, without all the words.  I too often have posts that I want to write, but that never come to fruition.  Perhaps because I'm exhausted in the evenings (when I write), or that my mind has been racing with all things motherhood all day, and the words just don't come.

So this post is just a quick catch up of sorts.  These are a few of my favorite pictures from the last couple weeks.  Well actually they are my second favorites, because my best work always hit the 'gram, and I try not to double dip!

Our weather has been warming up, and we are outside more than ever before.  Each week we are bound to visit various parks, the zoo, the aquarium, the children's museum, the gardens, & the aviary. Salt Lake City has a lot to offer, and we experience it all!  Our evenings at home are some of the best too! Liam is constantly on his bike (he's ready to upgrade from the balance bike to a pedal bike), & Finn is climbing our front steps nonstop.  Conor built us a corn hole set, so lawn games have really kicked off this Spring season.

Don't be surprised if you start seeing photo heavy posts; I can't resist!

  2. Bring on the heavy photo posts... I love your work! And I'm jealous of your corn hole set... And your weather! A photographer friend told me that we (on the east coast) just don't get the same looking light that you guys get on the west. It makes me feel better when I look at your (and Erin's) photos with such dreamy light and I struggle to get the same look!

  6. gorgeous pictures.. I am usually drawn more to the pictures than the words.. maybe the mommy brain that just can't seem to focus on all the words.. so I am down for photocentric posts.

  7. Wow Laura, such gorgeous shots! I love the one of Finn on the cornhole board, and that outdoor fountain one belongs in a magazine. Beautiful.

  8. I just adore your photography. You have stunning pictures that seem to each tell a story. I definitely empathize with the post ideas that don't seem to ever make it to publication. In the evenings, my brain is just too frazzled and/or running rampid with things I feel must be completed. So many ideas are swirling but not enough time.. or is it stamina? ha!

  9. I want ALL the photos :) I love your photography, you've really grown this past year and I LOVE seeing others grow in photography as it's such a passion of mine as well! It's so incredible to be able to capture our childrens' lives in photos! It's so hard to write out your thoughts at the end of the day but sometimes the photos can tell a beautiful story and that's all you need! XO

  12. I love each and every single photo. And I love that you're so selective about posting only the best of the best...unlike me who posts 900 photos of the exact same thing. ;)

  13. I really resonate with your first paragraph- I always have so much that I want to share but so many nights I am too tired, or don't have time, or the words just aren't there. Anyway. I get it.

I loved every single picture but I really love the one of Finn on the corn hole set. So cute!

  16. Teach me your photography ways. (I know you're going to tell me something about manual mode...)
I'm digging that corn hole set. You could make serious bucks if those were up for grabs on Etsy. Just saying...

  18. Your photos are GORGEOUS so bring on the photo heavy posts!!!
Also, do you take most of your pictures on your camera or on your phone? I always have my phone with me (it's all I have) because I'm always afraid that when I leave it somewhere, it's when the best photo opps come! Do you carry your camera around everywhere so you can capture all these amazing photos?

  22. YES, bring on all the pics..!! You capture your fam so beautifully. I often feel similar, when words escape, a picture is perfect and can tell such a story. Unfortunately I haven't gotten the camera out in a while, you offer great inspiration.
