Mother's Day 2016

Last Mother's Day, Finn was a mere 5 days old.  I was in complete newborn heaven, slowly figuring out the whole mom of two thing.  And today, here I am with a whole year of full arms behind me.  The transition was smooth for all of us, so hopefully we can handle third babe in our family at some point (not a pregnancy announcement)!

Per usual, I was spoiled by my boys!  A big two part brunch, consisting of maple bars, quiche, & mimosas!  But my favorite part of the morning, was seeing the card from Liam.  This is the first year that he was able to write a note to me, complete with drawings of the whole family.  He has my hair & eyes nailed down perfectly!  I was also gifted a notepad (that he made at school) that has a drawing he did of me on each page.  So so sweet!

I was excited to spend our afternoon visiting some different nurseries and picking out flowers & plants for our gardens this year.  Well the weather was awful, seriously pouring rain all day, which put a huge damper (no pun intended) on our day.  We still ventured out and scooped up some goodies, but it wasn't that beautifully sunny that day we all hope for.  Instead we all snuggled up for a movie (The Peanuts Movie... so so good) and snuck out for a quick break in the rain later in the evening.   We bought Finn a wiggle car for his birthday, but the weather has been so poor that he wasn't able to use it for days!  Finn is obsessed and wants us to ride with him over & over & over.  He's slowly figuring out how to walk with it, and I'm hopeful that he will be able to do it by himself in a just a couple months.

It was a relatively ordinary day.  Liam didn't listen to half the things I said.  Finn was upset about his new teeth and the fact that he now has to wear shoes...and clothes...   I still changed diapers and wiped faces.  Did some laundry.  But the ordinary days happen to be some of my favorite ones to look back on.  And today I sure felt loved & spoiled.  I'm lucky to have my two healthy boys and to be their mama.  I have seriously wanted to be a stay-at-home since I was a little girl.  Motherhood is the biggest & most important hat that I wear.  It does define me, and I wouldn't want it any other way.

And a special thanks to Conor for letting me get in some extra sleep and some "me" time.  For pouring me a few beverages and being a true partner in parenthood.  He makes me a better mother; he knows exactly what I need.  When I need to step in, or when I need a break.  And being the sweet gift giver that he is, he surprised me with two rocking chairs for our front porch!  Something I didn't even know that I needed or wanted, but I that I'm now obsessed with!  I see a lot of porch rockin' in my future.  Tea in the mornings, cocktails in the evenings.  And two sweet babes playing down below.

A very Happy Mother's Day to all my fellow mamas.
I get to celebrate with my own tomorrow...for a whole 5 days!!!

Your day sounds pretty perfect, rain and all. We're big fans of the Peanuts movie (hallelujah for zero scary parts), so I'd love a little afternoon of snuggles like that!
Happiest of Mother's Day to you! I hope there's a pregnancy announcement soon. :)

  21. Oh my gosh those rocking chairs!! My dream!! I'm not a Mom (yet, someday!) but I think it sounds like you had the perfect day! When I actually called my Mom on Mothers Day I felt really sad for her because we've all grown up and moved away...so she was like bored and talking about how she might just go to the movies. (I live 20 hours away!) So even if it's not perfect, these are probably the BEST Mother's Day years ;) PS- your little blonde babies are so stinking cute. xx
