1st Year of Preschool Complete

Summer is here!!!  I'm actually rather excited to have Liam home with me every day for a few months.  Sure, it will be harder to run errands with two kids, and I'll really miss that morning nap with Finn twice a week.  But it's summer, and we have lots of adventuring to do!

Summer school seems to be all the rage these days.  Yeah that's right... summer school for preschoolers.  But that thought just makes me a bit sad.  Liam will be in school for the next 20+  years of his life!  No need to be in there all year round; it's summer!  And the water park is calling!

Liam thrived at his Montessori this year.  We love his school and especially his teacher, whom he is lucky enough to have again next year.  On his last day we were given a portfolio of all his work from the school year as well pictures of him throughout.  I have never been so proud of some craft skills as well as his writing!  The portfolio is quite a special thing; it will definitely be tucked away & saved for him.  Now let's take a little look back at a picture from his 1st day...

1. Preschool just knocked the baby right out of him!  (Bawling my eyes out)!  And 2. Long hair don't care.  And because I just can't stop with the old photos, here are his Fall & then Spring school photos...

I can't even think about how much bigger he will be when he strolls back into his classroom in late August!  But until then, we play!  And I enjoy every extra minute with my sweet little Lamb!

  1. His little hand in his pocket!!! I die. I LOVE when Mason stands like that. He doesn't look like a baby (or little kid) anymore and he looks so old, but I think it is so sweet!
And summer school for preschool?? If I had the option, I'd have Mason home with me too. There's so much fun to be had! But alas, I do not have that option so to school he continues. BUT I do plan to take him out a lot since my job is more flexible now because like I said, there's lots of fun to be had!
    Happy Summer, Liam!

  3. Wow has he grown and changed in a year. Seriously looks so grown up. Make it stop!! Love the comparison photos. What a handsome little guy. I think preschool is such a great thing for kids. It gives them the opportunity to learn through play and make friends. We love preschool in our house, but are so excited to have Cam all day every day for the summer. :)

  6. Oh my goodness!! What a different baby, he's getting to be so handsome Laura! We're lucky enough that Sophie isn't in daycare just yet, or preschool, but she'll be starting next year. However I'd really love for her to not be in it in the summer time. We always did things in the summer when I was growing up and I'd love for that to continue.

  7. Our babies are growing up before our eyes! And long hair just suits him, so go with it as long as he lets you choose his style ;). Noah's signed up for two week-long camps, but I honestly can't imagine having him in all summer!

  9. I agree with it knocking the baby right out of him! He looks like such a big kid now. And so, so handsome. I love the long hair on him. He has the best hair (like his mama!). And no thanks to the summer school! I am happy to have Mason home with me every single day. I have never loved and appreciated summer so much until Mason started grade school!

And summer school? Nooooo. Even the homeschoolers are all about that and I'm like UH I NEED A VACATION DUDE. Seriously. No summer school. To the pool!

  12. Ahhhh the school photos are so amazing! It is crazy to see the comparison. He is certainly growing into quite the handsome little guy. And, I totally agree...the more you can have them home now the better...they have plenty of time for school and summer is summer!

  17. He is too cute and he totally looks older!
Summer School is popular here, too, but no way. I want my kids to enjoy summer!

  18. He just gets more and more handsome! I have a huge bag of craft and writing projects too. I can't being myself to get rid of any. I'm sure I will eventually or I will have to rent a storage unit for all his stuff over the years!

  19. Your little boy is the sweetest. I am looking forward to summer too. It's so hard to watch our little ones grow up; thankfully, we still have many more summers to enjoy before they get too big. I agree with you--summer school for preschoolers sounds way too ambitious and unnecessary. There will be plenty of time for school.
