Prepare for a massive overshare! And full disclosure: this will not be the only post where you get a heavy dose of our newest batch of family photos. I can't help it; I'm so in love with them all. I feel like they perfectly capture our adventurous little family in the mountains (nearly our second home). You can see the personalities of my boys' just shining through. I love the contrast of Liam's bright blue eyes with Finn's deep dark brown.

For this shoot, we headed up Big Cottonwood Canyon to the Donut Falls trailhead. This is only about a half hour drive from our house. We've hiked here before, so the location was perfect. So was the weather, the night... everything. Finn was particularly smiley, which I was pumped about. That is, until he started screaming uncontrollably for no apparent reason. A minute later, I started getting a tingly feeling on my hand and leg. Then the pain kicked in. Stinging nettles!!! And sure enough, Finn's legs were covered in welts! I felt so bad for him. We took a little break to see if he would recover, and fortunately he did. However, he very skeptical about being put down in the tall grass after that. We distracted him by heading down the stream. Once I saw the log laying across the rushing water, I knew we had to all get in! The water was far too cold for Liam to keep his toes in for long, but he was all about balancing across the log!

A huge thank you for Kali Poulsen for being patient with my family. Getting the best smiles from my boys. And somehow capturing the magic that is this current time in our lives.

And another thanks is probably due to my sweet friends who responded to a ridiculous amount of texts regarding outfit selection. I love the white floral dress I decided on! I think it all came together perfectly with the scenery.
What a beautiful photoshoot! Your family looks so irresistibly happy, and I love that beautiful white floral dress. It's so important to capture special memories like these. I've never heard of stinging nettles, but they don't sound fun. So glad your little one made a full recovery with that cute little smile!
