Finn Update: 14 Months

I have barely even mentioned all the going ons with our little Finny since his first birthday!  With Liam, I did monthly updates until he was two, but that just isn't happening this time around.  However, I do have all sort of things I want to remember about this little sweetheart, so here's a Finn update.  He is currently just over 14 months old, although all these photos are from nearly a month ago.

This one is strong willed.  He knows what he wants and can be quite dramatic when things don't go his way.  He is just full of emotions and so expressive.  Most of the time he has quite the serious face, but it makes his smiles & giggles all the more special.  While Liam never so much as threw a tantrum until he was nearly two, Finn has already mastered the open-mouth, head tossed back, angry backwards walk.  He's also a big fan of throwing himself on the floor.  It can be hard not to laugh at times with just how expressive he can be with his whole being when he's upset. He certainly wants you to KNOW how he feels about it.

(all the above photos taken by the talented Kali Poulsen)

He's always on the go & boy is he fast!  He has a huge stride and can cover quite a bit of distance quickly when he wants to.  He's already extremely coordinated and has quite the throwing arm on him.  He loves all sports and tries to play everything that the big kids do.  His favorite right now is the basketball hoop.  He grabs a ball, holds it above his head, and stands under the hoop until someone lifts him for a slam dunk.  He can already dribble a soccer ball, and is quite good with the golf clubs too (hockey style).  He picks things up so quickly.  He is a strong boy and can already take Liam down.  There is plenty of wrestling in our house, and Finn is usually a willing participant.

His strawberry blond hair is slowly fading to blond.  Yet to be determined if it will be as light as Liam's but the sunshine is certainly moving it in that direction.  He has thinned out a tad once he started walking, but still has quite the baby belly and all sorts of chubby rolls.  He has the cutest little tan lines on his wrists, ankles, and neck to prove it!

He had a huge verbal leap back around 10ish months, but no big explosion since then.  The best thing to hear out of his mouth is "Liam".  It's so clear and he shouts it all day long.  He babbles plenty and tries new words all the time.  He definitely knows what he's saying, but often we have no clue.  Liam seems to be better at deciphering him than Conor or I.  Teething has been rough on him.  It seems that there is always at least one tooth working its way through.  He doesn't eat much during those times, but he's always hungry for yogurt.  He has quite the obsession, much like his big brother has had for years.  He'll go to his highchair and beg for some yogurt.  Liam was exactly the same way!  And raspberries are probably his next favorite food.  He can put those back all day long, although he prefers them right off the bush as opposed to store bought.  So fancy!

He loves water and spends many of his summer days in his swimsuit.  He loves animals, especially dogs, birds, and squirrels.  He can watch them forever, stopping in his tracks whenever he comes across one and frantically pointing so that you can see it too.  He's friendly and loving but in a bit of a rough and tumble sort of way.  Luckily our kitty, Squirrel, puts up with all this antics.  She loves sleeping right up next to him, so #napswithsquirrel has totally become a thing for us.  He still seems to prefer all the men in his life.  Conor remains the favorite, and he has taken quite a liking to Pops over Nana.  Luckily, he still comes to me for all sorts of snuggles!  He's a boy with many nicknames: Finny (my favorite), Shark Finn (what Conor's calls him), and Huckle (Liam's preferred choice).  They all seem to fit him so perfectly.
We love this spunky boy and all the busy this little handful brings to many of our days!

  6. I wonder if the strong will and dramatic flair is a second child thing? Your first paragraph could have easily been about Julia!
I love that Finn wants to keep up with the big kids, can take down his brother, and is particular about berries from a bush v. the store. Such a little man.
    Happy 15 Months to Finn!

  9. I love that the word that Finn uses the most often is Liam. All of the second kid posts that I read, they sure do love their older siblings!

  10. So cute that he says Liam the most :) He is really getting big, he looks a bit more like Liam now that he's older. They're obviously very different boys but I can see parts of where Liam got his looks from in Finn now.

  14. Something about his face in that first picture reminds me so much of Mabel. Our brown eyed strong willed babies! Lol.

Just because I'm curious- about how often is he nursing in a 24 hr period these days?
