Nana: A Just Because Visit

My mom was able to spend the first week of November with us, and it was such a fun time.  She wasn't here because Conor was traveling, or to help with a new baby, or for any particular purpose; it was strictly a "just because" visit, and those are my favorite!

We rarely get time for just the two of us, so this week we took full of advantage of Conor being here as well!  We had a dinner date; the kind of date where you have a real slow meal, drink a whole bottle of wine, and maybe linger at the table before heading home.  We had a shopping date, where I picked up some birthday gifts as well as some Christmas goodies.  I could actually try clothes on, because a baby wasn't strapped to me, and I had both hands free to carry as many shopping bags as possible (no diaper bag needed).  I simply loved all of our special mother/daughter time!

But of course, I did still have to share her with the boys!  She was her usual helpful self, especially when I was dealing with my awful head cold.  And bless her heart for letting me take a nap every single day.  I can always, always use extra sleep!  She even made a batch of cookies with Liam one day, and made extra dough that she froze in individual cookie portions.  Do you think I will ever be baking those cookies? No!  Because every day since they have been there, I have been eating 2-3 cookie balls a day; no joke.  So thanks for that Mom!

We bonded over eggnog lattes in the morning & wine in the evenings.  We are never ready for her to go, but apparently she can't just move to Utah and move in with us.  Instead, we are currently making our holiday travel plans and will hopefully be joining my family just after Christmas!
We miss you Nana!

  1. Nana visits are the best! I get so excited when we get to be with my mom. She's my person and I'm so blessed, just like you. I'm so glad you two had time together for girly stuff. That's so special.

  2. I'm so glad that you got this time with your Mama. I do not take having my Mom 20 minutes down the road for granted at all because I know just how blessed I am that she's just a hop, skip & a jump away.
