Memories are being made every single day of this season. There is so much excitement in our house right now. Christmas carols going non-stop, made only sweeter by the tiny voices belting them out. We're now less than a week away from Christmas, so our days more intentionally planned, trying to fit as much wonder in as we possibly can. Here is a near "weekend in the life" for us. Photography is becoming how I document our family; daily snippets of our days. I love being able to capture these moments for my boys, hoping that will look back on them with much appreciation.
Most of the weekend was dedicated to sugar cooking making (waiting for that dough to chill is painful for a wee one, so we make it the night before!) and staying in our pajamas all day! The recipe we used was initially my grandmother's. It's my favorite, and I will never ever veer from it. Liam is the best little baker, always eager to help and do things by himself. I often have to remind him to slow down, but he is rather meticulous about his work, just like me. Flour was everywhere, Finn only wanted to eat the dough, yet I was considering baking a double batch. As we moved into decorating, Finn was strictly still consumed with eating, while Liam dumped on the sprinkles as he licked the frosting spoon. Don't worry, these cookies are strictly for our own consumption (and Santa of course!).
The rest of weekend was filled with running & screaming all over the house, which seems to the preferred late afternoon activity. The boys are obsessed with jumping on our bed. Hiding in our bed. Taking all the sheets and pillows off our bed. So lots of wrestling & tickling & laughing happens here. Again, no need to take off those adorable Christmas jams! I swear, I do wash them! Both boys needed that solid two days with Conor home, and we are more than looking forward to a week and a half long vacation coming up!
Currently, the forecast is calling for snow on Christmas Eve & Christmas Day;
I absolutely cannot wait! Hope you all are enjoying this time of year as much as our family!

I love the red noses! So stinking cute. I'd be so nervous that they would wake up from the tickle. haha!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are the best! My boys would love to make a fort/tent out of our bed... I might just have to let them now that I see how much fun yours had!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I love the nose paint story! It's so sweet to create some magic for kids this time of year!
ReplyDeleteThe red nose elf story is a new classic. I will definitely be adding this to my list for our elf next year. How sweet. And, those boys and their Christmas jammies...just nothing better.
ReplyDeleteThe red noses are the most adorable thing ever! We are making our sugar cookies this week and I CAN'T WAIT!
ReplyDeleteAH! So much Christmas goodness! I love this! And the red noses idea was such a good one. You are making so many precious memories this Christmas! :)
ReplyDeleteOMG, the red noses is the cutest idea! I love their reaction! Finn in his little undies just kills me and seeing him on the gifts cracks me up. I hope he hasn't broken anything either. :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun that you all made cookies together! That's still one thing we have yet to do... maybe we'll get around to that today? I hope you get your white Christmas!
ReplyDeleteSo much fun to be had this time of year!! I love all your beautiful pictures. I think any future wives and girlfriends will also appreciate looking back on these. I know I did with Chris' old pictures.
ReplyDeleteCut out sugar cookies is my last 'really hoping it will happen' item on my list! I think I need more butter first...
Your pictures are so absolutely beautiful! Those red noses are the cutest!
ReplyDeleteThe painted nose is the cutest elf idea I've seen all year! Our elf may have to borrow that one before he heads back.
ReplyDeleteThere has been LOTS of cookie baking, decorating, and consuming over the last week. In fact, I was just asked, "Mom, can I nibble on a cookie?" It's 10am, sorry buddy. ;)
I have been wanting to do the red nose thing! Maybe I will save it in my bag of tricks for next year! It's getting difficult to come up with things that our elf hasn't already done! I love the stories these pictures tell. So sweet!
ReplyDeleteSo much fun to be had! That Elf certainly was naughty painting everyone's noses red! I love how your home looks so beautiful with red and white everywhere.
