So as of now, the plan is that Liam will start Kindergarten next year. But it's all sorts of complicated since he is a summer baby. He'll either be super old or super young for his class. It bugs me that if his birthday were a mere two months later or two months earlier, it wouldn't even be a discussion. But it's not, so instead I stress. From strictly a sports perspective, I want him to be older & bigger. But that would mean that he would do another year of pre-K. And that means he would be a year behind in school of many of his friends & cousins. Liam is actually big (at least tall) for his age, so I'm not too worried about that. And his social skills are up to par, as are his academic skills. Having said all that, he should just go ahead and start Kindergarten next year. But he'll always be the youngest. This is honestly stressing me out far more than it should! We'll meet with his teacher this Winter and probably make a decision together based on Liam's first half of the school year. I would love to hear thoughts from other parents with summer babies! What are you all doing?!
Cheers to a wonderful school year ahead!
