I'm excited to finally share this big news! I've hinted towards it on some Instagram posts, and then some of you even noticed house plans floating around our kitchen table in a few videos. So yes, YES we are building a house here in Utah! This is just one of the many things that has already been keeping me busy this year!
Some people are surprised to hear we're moving since they know how much we loooooove our neighborhood. Which is true, we really really do! We love the people and the little pocket that we're in. However, we really don't love the surrounding neighborhoods. I don't take long walks with the boys, because honestly, it feels a little sketchy at times. Plus, there have always been things about our particular house that we don't like (such as a main floor master bedroom). And lastly, many people don't know this about Salt Lake City, but we have terrible inversions in the winter. The air can get so so gross here! We've always talked about moving up to a higher elevation to get out of it. And since as of now, we plan on staying in Utah for another 2-3 years, we're ready for a new house. We are truly thrilled with this new opportunity!
We're building up in the mountains a bit (yay for more snow!), but to do this, we are moving south of the city. We'll be farther away from everything, which I initially had some reservations about. However, each time we drive up to the lot, I love everything about it. I think we will love being tucked away! We'll be getting better air & a bit more space too. Our lot as well as our house will be bigger, which is something that the whole family is looking forward to. We're trying to get things moving as quickly as possible, potentially looking at a late summer/early fall move in date! Eek!
But fear not... this little space of mine will not turn into a design blog. I'm not a designer nor a trend setter. Nor a risk taker while we're at it. But I do happen to love Pinterest, ha! Conor & I have a similar style, and thus far we've agreed on nearly everything. Our exterior will have a farmhouse feel, but the inside will be more contemporary with lots of whites & blacks throughout the house. Ground breaking... I know! I'll share things I'm loving here & there, and more I suppose if people are interested. We'll see how the next 7+ months or so goes.
Here's a couple pics of us exploring our new spot!
